Goals and Objectives
The purpose of the Lake and Hills Garden Club shall be to stimulate the knowledge and love of gardening, to aid in the protection of plants and wildlife and to encourage civic beauty. Lake and Hills Garden Club is a tax-exempt 501 (c) (3) entity under an umbrella group sponsored by the Garden Club of South Carolina, Inc.
Donations and Projects
The LHGC donations and projects are funded by an annual fundraising event, a luncheon and auction, held in October. Each member donates an item or items valued at $50. All members are encouraged to work on a committee, attend the luncheon and invite friends to fill The Club's main dining room.
Donations are decided annually by the membership based on funds available. In the past few years donations have been made to the following:

- National: Nature Conservancy of America
- State: Garden Club of SC Scholarship Fund, Bird Observation Platform at SCBG, and Memorial Garden; Blue Star Memorial; Camp Wildwood Scholarships; SC Botanical Gardens Butterfly Garden, Children's Garden, and Heritage Garden
- Local: National Wildlife Federation - Backyards and Keowee Key Community Certification; Friends of Lake Keowee Society (FOLKS); Keep Oconee Beautiful Association (KOBA); Clemson Student Scholarships; Keowee Key Audubon Certification; Arbor Day; Civic Development; Garden Therapy; Hospice of the Foothills Festival of Trees; Historic Preservation; Funding for Landscaping in Keowee Key Community: Fitness Center, administration circle and the point, entrance walkway to The Club, and Laurel Park
Projects: Each year members decide which projects will be supported based on the funds available.
- Arbor Day Program: purchase of trees at local nurseries and presentations to local schools
- Civic Responsibility: planting and maintaining community gardens. Purchase decorations and decorating outdoor spaces in Keowee Key during the holidays
- Hospice of the Foothills Festival of Trees
- Historic Preservation of both the Hunnicutt Cemetery and Hunnicutt Chimney
- National Wildlife Certified Backyards and Community
- Seneca Rehab Center flower garden and bird feeders
- Future Farmers of America chapter at Seneca High School
- South Carolina Wildlife Federation as the Presidents Project
