Hospice of the Foothills Christmas Tree - 1st Place Winner
Theme: “Ode to Joy”. This year’s Hospice tree committee quickly agreed they wanted to create Christmas tree with natural elegance celebrating the “Reason for the Season”. They began by using a tree stump (byproduct of Hurricane Helene) as a tree stand. An angel stands beside the tree with a bird nestled in more branches below. A mixture of silver, gold and burgundy foliage adorn the tree along with birds, a delicate glass ornament with a depiction of the nativity scene and 3 large bells. Intertwined throughout is a 3”wide ribbon with a musical staff and 1” wide ribbon with the words to “Joyful, Joyful , Ode to Joy” printed on it. The committee members: Jan Espie-Steffen, Anne Schrauth, Nan Donovan, and Cyndi Corizales. 1st place in the tree category.

Hunnicutt Cemetery Families:
On April 19, 2024, fourteen family members visited the gravesites of their forbears. It was the first stop of many throughout Oconee County. They were appreciative to the Lake and Hills Garden Club “for helping the family pay homage to their ancestors and for preserving this magical place” which is located inside Keowee Key. The oldest, front and center in the picture is 102 years old. She visited on her 100th birthday and wanted to come back.
